Just a Note...
Home Page | Resume | Just notes... | Contact Page | Favorite Links

Hi there,
These are just notes I like to read and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

This is written by Mother Teresa:
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you. Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destory overnight. Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tommorow. Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give the best you've got anyway.

You see in the final analysis, it is between you and God. It is never between you and them anyway.

Just food for thought...

Voice over interview
I've been asked a few times about how I got into voice acting and I thought I'd answer those questions for those of you who asked. :)

1)What originally sparked your interest for Voice
Acting? How old were you?
2) What schools did you go to? ( Primarily college/
universities)
3) What were your intrests as you were growing up?
4) How did you get a job as a voice actor?
5) In your opinion, state some ideas on what talents you think a person should have in order to be a good voice actor.
6) How much do you get payed when you do a voice for
a character?
7) How long have you been a voice actor?
8) Do you enjoy your job?
9) In your opinion, can you describe the joys and
perks of being a voice actor? What's the best and Worst thing that can come out of Voice acting?
10) How are the people you work with? do you like
working with them?
11) Have you any advice for aspiring voice actors?
12) Any additional thoughts/ comments?

1)I was taking an actors audition class for theatre,
film, tv & voice where Casting Directors for each
category did a mock audition with you and gave you
feedback on your work.It turns out I had a real knack for voicework.I was 25 years old at the time but I realized I had always loved to read stories outloud and play different characters from the time I was 9 years old.The teacher had asked me to record myself reading a story for class and she used that tape to follow through with the class. I didn't know it then but I always enjoyed reading outloud and in university I took drama classes in character voices and loved it.

2)I lived in Edmonton Alberta. I went to the
University of Alberta and majored in Drama and
afterwards I went to Grant MacEwan community college
to study Theatre Arts where I studied voice, acting,
theatre, singing, dance, and performing arts.

3)My interest as I was growing up were in drama, music, ballet ,piano and gymnastics.I originally
wanted to become a ballerina but after my scholarships ran out my family couldn't afford to send me anymore. It's ok cause I got into other things instead.

4)I got my first job as a voice actor for CBC Radio.
They were looking for someone to do a Guest Lead for a Filipino nanny on a CBC radio series.I saw the
breakdown at my agents office and told them to make
sure to submit me since I knew I could do it, no
problem. I didn't hear anything for awhile. Since I
was still fairly new in Toronto I made the intiative
to send my photo and resume to the Casting Director
myself. I even called her up and left a voice mail
saying I wanted an audition for that role and that I
could do th accent no problem.15 minutes later my
agent called to say I had the audition. The next day I auditioned and the girl who went before me totally pysched me out because she had an awesome audition and was jumping up and down when she went out. I was next. I went in there just focused and did two takes. The next morning I found out I got it! I was jumping up and down the next day because my agent had told me never to call the Casting Director ever! Oops! Thank goodness I got the job. Thing is I don't think I would have gotten the audition in the first place if I didn't take my own intiative.

5)I think if you really want to be a voice actor you
have to read outloud alot and just really love doing
it.The more you do it, the better you get is all I can say.I also think if you have a distinct voice and you know how to use it your halfway there. The other half of being a voice actor is getting a very good agent and having a real good business sense to promote your career.

6) It all depends on what it is for. You can get
anywhere between and up an hour for a dubbing of a voice to making thousands of dollars for a 30 second commercial spot. It all depends.

7) Not long. 4 yrs.You could say I got lucky because I happened to make myself a demo commercial tape that the voice over agent really liked and then it went from there.

8) Hey, where can you get paid for having so much fun doing voice? I love it because you don't have to worry about what you look like and I can be as wild as I want. When it's film/tv acting it's a lot to do with your look.

9) The best thing. It's fun! The money is good.
The worst thing. There is alot of rejection. Plus it's not always easy.I had an experience where the director and I couldn't communicate what we needed for the take and it got to be quite frustrating. Over and Over. It can be very tiring and stressful sometimes.

10) People are great. Sometimes you are alone too and you have to act as though they are in the room with you. That's challenging.

11) Advice? Take workshops. Make a demo tape. Market
yourself.Get a GREAT agent. And never give up. It's a combination of luck, talent and perserverence.

12) It it is to be it's up to me :)
